There are many modern lacquers available today, in different sheens and hardness and durability levels. These finishes need to be applied by spray gun which is a more advanced finishing technique which needs a certain amount of skill and experience.
Modern oil finishes are heat and water resistant and quite tough. They also have the advantage of being relatively simple to repair at a later date if needed.
Painted finishes are increasingly popular today, understandable as its a great way to update a rather ordinary or lacklustre piece, and can encompass a variety of styles from shabby chic and distressed looks to something a little more uniform & subdued to really bold striking colours and effects… There is plenty of inspiration out there and I am always happy to discuss painting commissions on your own pieces aswell.
