Gun room large cabinet doors… Colour correction.

Gun room large cabinet doors… Colour correction.

20180315_145615These large doors had been made and finished by another company to fit to an existing cabinet. However the new doors did not match the old woodwork, (right picture) and I was approached to rectify the problem and refinish the glazed doors to match the old woodwork, (left of picture). This was a large job with 8 glazed doors and 4 large frames. To achieve the correct colour/tone the doors not only had to have the existing finish completely removed but sanded back and a two part bleach applied. This took out the cool slightly purplish tinge of the American Walnut and allowed a warmer stain to be applied. The doors were then refinished. When working with anything glazed one of the essential but time consuming tasks is preparing and protecting the glass!
